I have to recommend from personal use a walking trouser that is soft and comfortable, but offers shower proof protection.
Sprayway - 'All Day Rainpant' have been excellent when out walking,they have kept me dry without the need for the mandatory
crinkle noise when wearing other rainproof trousers.
Prices vary on these trousers, so shop around for the best price.
I do have a favourite walking trouser, they are a bit on the expensive side, and very long when you don't have walking boots on. Although, they are perfect length when you have a pair of walking boots on. They are a strong fabric, I highly recommend them.
