I love my green smoothies and make a concerted effort to have one every day. I have often been asked for some recipe ideas for the green smoothies, so hear are some ideas.

This recipe is a very basic one that I started with, I use spinach because it is more palatable than kale, but you can use kale or a cup of each. This recipe is quite sweet and is mild enough that children will love to drink it too.
Over time, you can adjust the ingredients to suit your taste.

2 Ripe bananas (spots should start to appear on the skin)
1 Cup of water
2-3 cups of spinach
1/2 cup of berries strawberries, raspberries, blackberries etc

When blending in your blender add the water and fruits first followed by the spinach, this helps to blend the spinach easier.
Put all the ingredients into your blender and blend until a nice smooth even colour.
For the greatest benefits, drink immediately,

This is the smoothie recipe I currently enjoy daily, it does make a large amount, but I make it last for breakfast and lunch. This is not for the faint hearted, but it is amazing and leaves a slight tingling on the tongue from the ginger.

Ingredients

Water,
Ginger about 2 inches
1 whole lemon (remove the rind)
1/3 of a whole cucumber
1/2 a bell pepper any colour
2 x mushrooms
3 x carrots
4 x Strawberries
1/4 punnet of Blueberries
1/2 bag of spinach
1/2 bag of kale
2 x bananas
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric
Fresh mint leaves

Blend all of the ingredients together until a even green colour smoothie is visible. Drink as soon as possible, store any remaining smoothie in an airtight container in the fridge, drink within the same day of making.

That must work out to be very expensive!

It certainly isn’t a cheap breakfast, but it often doubles up as a snack in the day or half breakfast/ half lunch. But even when I eat it all in one sitting, I feel the expense is worth it for my health. I would rather forego other things in life to ensure my health is maximised.
